Size:
The Serbian spruce grows conspicuously slender and conical up to 20 m tall. The branches hang through in an arching shape.

Leaf: 
The needles are short and flat, blunt at the tip. On the underside 2 blue-white stripes (stomata) stand out. They remain on the twigs for up to 12 years.

Flower/fruit: 
The tree flowers in May. The cones grow up to 6 cm long and are blue-violet when immature.

Wood: 
The wood is similar to that of the common spruce. In forestry, however, the Serbian spruce is insignificant as it does not grow as fast as the common spruce.

Trivia/Use: 
The Serbian Spruce originates from a small area in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. In our country it is mainly used as a park and garden tree, there is also a dwarf form. It tolerates urban and industrial climates very well.
