Fairtrade

As a Fairtrade commune, we displayed Fairtrade items, such as food and clothing in the Commune building for residents during the annual Fairtrade week. During these days, every resident was able to enjoy a piece of fair chocolate and a glass of fair orange juice, and take with them a fair rose. In addition to this initiative, in the morning of May 11^th the Board of Aldermen and members of the Environmental Commission distributed fair bananas to school children. As a culmination of these initiatives, the Commune Council was served fair pastries and fair coffee at its setting of May 20^th.

In addition to such occasional initiatives, throughout the year the Commune purchases many Fairtrade goods in the community. For example, the coffee and orange juice in the Commune offices is Fairtrade. In addition, when larger orders are placed, care is taken to ensure that baked goods and flowers are not only bought locally, but also fairly.
